Leadership

Patient Advocacy Board

The PAB is an essential part of the function of the Iron for Health initiative. The group meets throughout the year to discuss iron related challenges and emerging data. Each PAB member is personally connected to iron related diseases and advocates on behalf of patient focused treatments and care.

Medical Advisory Council

The MAC meets throughout the year to discuss emerging medical research associated with ID and IDA and ensures Iron for Health is promoting current medical knowledge. Overseeing website content and creation, the MAC's purpose is to lead the direction of the site, promote its usefulness to peers and advocate on behalf of patient wellbeing.

Marelle Reid, BScN

Iron for Health is thrilled to have Marelle Reid serve on the Medical Advisory Board (MAB). Marelle is passionate about helping people learn about the importance of iron and how sometimes it is the key to regaining vitality, having herself experienced low iron causing extreme fatigue and brain fog during nursing school. For Marelle, two iron infusions made a night and day difference to her quality of life. Oral supplements did not address her iron deficiency in an impactful way.

With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from the University of British Columbia, 2021, Marelle brings hospital and clinical experience in medical, surgical, and most recently, palliative care nursing to the Iron for Health MAB.

Having worked as a freelance writer and reporter, Marelle's previous career in journalism will contribute to the Iron for Health MAC with an eye towards inclusion of pertinent and emerging iron focused articles and advancements.
